  • DO YOU KNOW HOW EGG HARBOR GOT ITS NAME?
The explorer, Cornelius Jacobsen Mey, gave Egg Harbor its name. When he came upon the inlet for the first time, all he could see were EGGS!! The meadows were covered in bird eggs!! With a sight such as that, it was only fitting that he call it 'Eyren Haven' (Egg Harbor). Oil Painting courtesy of Mrs. Edgar Somers. Photo by William Hann
